Milestone number of .mobi domains registered

Many of the world’s leading brands have secured domains designed to be used on mobile phones and portable devices, such as PDA’s.

dotMobi, the Dublin-based registry for .mobi domains, has now exceeded 500,000 addresses with millions of mobile-friendly pages of content. Domains deal with diverse topics ranging from travel to voting.

As well as hobbyist and social networking sites, such as bigfishtackle.mobi and p-o-k-e-r.mobi, many of the world’s leading brands are ensuring their mobile customers can get useful content on the move. News, entertainment, sports and auto brands have all been quick to register and develop their .mobi sites, including NBA.mobi, Maxim.mobi, CNNMoney.mobi and BMW.mobi.

An online encyclopaedia, Wapedia, designed specifically for mobile users, is also available.
