Coupons Inc. acquires Boodle.com
Coupons Inc. announced its acquisition of Consumer Networks LLC and its coupon service, Boodle.com.
Boodle.com provides newspapers with printable coupons to feature on their websites. Coupons Inc. has been working with Boodle.com for the last four years, providing the technology platform.
The deal will see Coupons Inc. expand in to the local retail coupon arena, in which Boodle.com already has around 100 newspaper clients. Coupons Inc. already works with over 600 brands, enabling 99.5 percent of all printable online coupons. Its Digital FSI™ Network is the world’s largest coupon network with thousands of consumer websites reaching more than 75 million grocery, pharmaceutical, and general retail shoppers.
"Newspapers deliver almost 90% of the 384 billion coupons distributed each year. As consumers shift their media consumption online, newspapers' sites are the natural place for them to turn for savings," said Coupons Inc.’s CEO Steven Boal.
According to Boal, the redemption rate for offline coupons is less than 1 percent, whereas coupons printed from the internet have a redemption rate of around 17 percent.

Looks like a major shift in the approach to local coupon marketing is taking place. Intertesting to note the stats from Coupons Inc.’s CEO Steven Boal regarding the 90% coupon delivery from newspapers. What consumes the the remaining 10%? I would think perhaps Direct Mail. This vehicle provides a strong hold on the local consumer and merchant markets. And, provides a wider variety of retail services one could argue.
I would ask Mr. Boal if he foresees any efforts in capturing the local Direct Mail coupon arena in regards to establishing a long term vehical for online coupon users?
I think focusing on the end consumer on a local basis is a portion of the future of coupon marketing online. To truley gain the praise and loyalty of the local couponer we must provide that favorite pizza shop coupon in the fastest, efficient and convenient manner.
