Watch, view and read in new content player
A new online video player could change the way some websites look at online video and other content resources. The AdMatch Player from Mochila allows companies to brand video, text and images on their websites.
CEO Keith McAllister said in a prepared statement, “Mochila’s multi-media player gives web publishers the ability to create custom presentations of some of the world’s best video, text, and image content and the player is free and generates ad revenue.”
Here is how it works: publishers can filter information from the web, choosing what content they want in their player. They can choose video, text or pictures in the player which is then branded according to the site. Users receive the content according to their preferences through publisher feeds. Ads are also included and revenue is split between the content owner, Mochila and the publisher. Player ads are served by 24/7 Real Media, Quigo, Tacoda and Broadband Enterprises.
By allowing users to choose their own content, web publishers can potentially encourage more interaction. According to a recent study, online video engagement is around 4 minutes, much longer than originally thought. The study followed users who were allowed to somewhat choose their own content, click on ads that interested them and ignore content that was of no interest. The new video player from Mochila gives viewers the ability to choose content, which should in turn give publishers more site engagement.
In 2006, online video brought in around $225 million in revenue; that number is expected to skyrocket to $800 million or more in 2007.
