Quigo, Pixsy to offer multi-media search
Two relatively small online entities are hoping a partnership can put their names more solidly on the Internet map. Contextual pay-per-click ad firm Quigo is partnering with search engine Pixsy to create a new multi-media search platform.
The platform will offer location, private label and topic specific searches that will have both contextual advertising and contextual visual content. As part of the deal, Pixsy will also put a version of AdSonar, Quigo's platform, on it's network.
To be very specific, if a user in Tampa Bay performs a search on a Pixsy site, the results will be localized to include information about local businesses, sports teams, news and events. The results will also hold contextual ads that are related to the search.
Though relatively small compared to Google and Yahoo, Pixsy executives say the search engine is on track to rank among the top five search providers this year with 13 million daily searches. Google currently owns the top search engine ranking with 3.3 billion searches during the month of January, Yahoo was their closest competitor with 1.3 billion January searches. Ask.com and the Time Warner network may feel the Pixsy competition first, as the two entities show just over 300 million searches during January.
