First Virtual Millionaire Is For Real
Meet the world’s first virtual millionaire, Anshe Chung. Who now has more than a million cold, hard dollars in her real world bank account, earned primarily in the virtual world she created through Second Life.
Anshe Chung has spent the past 30 months amassing a virtual fortune that translates into actual dollars. According to her website, Chung has turned her $9.95 initial investment with Second Life into more than $1 million U.S. dollars.
Her online avatar was featured on the cover of Business Week magazine, and an inside peek into her life shows online investments that include buying and selling virtual real estate, operating virtual shopping malls and store chains. She has several million Linden Dollars – the virtual equivalent of the United States dollar – and online property equivalent to 36 square kilometers of land.
But Chung isn’t living only in the virtual world. Her online exploits now include developing and selling real-world properties and corporations and have led to her real-world company called Anshe Chung Studios. The company develops 3D environments for education and business conferencing equipment.

I've followed Anshe's story for awhile, and it's amazing. The possibilities of essentially being in an alternate, virtual world and mirroring this world, it quite a thing. The possibilities are even more endless in Second Life than they are in real life. This is just the beginning of this extraordinary story.
