Tripmates Deals with TAN

Just in time for the North America’s rush to warmer climates, an advertising network and a travel social network have joined together. The Travel Ad Network (TAN) and Tripmates have struck a deal to connect social travel networkers with targeted travel ads. According to the deal, TAN will be the exclusive sales representative for all of Tripmates advertising inventory.

TAN delivers roughly 8 million unique visitors to its 45 Internet properties each month. TAN is the largest vertical ad network in the United States. Their other sites include Lonely Planet, Rough Guides and RealTravel. They use a combination of geographical targeting and publisher relationships to give advertisers access to their members.

Travel Ad Network CEO Cree Lawson said in a statement, “Travel community sites have proven to be trusted forums for early stage, interactive travelers planning the best two weeks for their year. Nobody knows how to monetize this audience better than TAN and allow publishers to focus on building their product and their audience.”

Tripmates is a destination for travelers before they leave home. With the ability to meet locals or other people headed to their chosen destination, the community keeps travelers from feeling like tourists. Once home, vacationers can share trip videos, journals and photos through the network. It also allows single travelers to find a Trip Buddy so they don’t have to travel alone.
