Online Ad Spend Tops $4B in Q3
According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, advertising revenue on the Internet in the third quarter has topped $4 billion. That is a new record level for online advertising.
In 2005, the online ad spend was $3.1 billion. This year, Q3 saw ad dollars of $4.2 billion, 33% more than 2005 and 2% more than Q2 numbers.
"The consistent growth of online advertising is a clear indication that marketers continue to embrace the true power of interactive advertising," said Sheryl Draizen, SVP, General Manager, IAB (via MarketingVOX).
This is the eight consecutive quarter of growth and the largest single quarter according to David Silverman, a partner with Assurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers. He said in a statement, "This growth follows the trend of where consumers are spending their media time and the unique ability of Interactive advertising to effectively target and monitor ad campaigns.”
The Q3 Advertising Revenue Report combines data from companies that “report meaningful online advertising revenues”, according to MarketingVOX.
The fourth quarter could also show improvement over 2005 revenue numbers as well. Holiday retail spending is expected to jump 5% and marketers are already prepping for greater spending with more advertising, both online and in traditional segments.
