CitySearch and Ask boost IAC’s Q3
IAC/InterActive Corp has released the company’s 3rd quarter numbers, which show growth is nearly all sectors. With more than $1.5 billion in revenue, an 11% growth over 2005, the company is coming on strong. Strong performance from their Ask.com and CitySearch portals helped boost the Q3 numbers.
Revenue in advertising and media showed the strongest growth for the quarter with a 62% increase to more than $135 million. Ask.com grew 59% while across the network, IAC holdings surged more than 40%.
Chairman and CEO of IAC, Barry Diller said in a statement, "We have three interrelated strategies: one, the growth of each of our businesses; two, Ask.com as the connecting thread; and three, all our cross-company efforts which allow us to leverage our audience, scale and diversified expertise."
Last August IAC began to decrease ads per page, a questionable venture, but according to Clickz this has resulted in higher retention, query volume growth and higher revenue-per-query.
Ask.com’s market share also great in Q3. The search portal reached 2.4% of queries. That is up from 2.18% in Q2. To continue capitalizing on the growth search boxes are now on all IAC properties. The company is also integrating all IAC sites into Ask.com's toolbar, and into search result listings.
