Politics and Tech: Best Blogs
In the United States, the general population doesn’t want to read about trips to the market, the latest movies or childhood anecdotes. The most popular U.S. blogs talk tech and politics, according to a study from Edelman.
PR firm Edelman and blog tracking firm Technorati joined together to find out just what bloggers are talking about and how many readers are paying attention. Of the Top 10 U.S. blogs, four were tech related and four were political forums.
Technorati ranks blogs according to the number of links back to the blog within a six month period. Tech site Engadget ranked number 1. It’s part of the Weblogs network, owned by AOL. Boing Boing (covering society and tech) and Gizmodo (gadgets blog) ranked 2 and 3. The Huffington Post, Daily Kos and TechCrunch were also in the Top 10.
Of the 100 most popular blogs in the United States, 34 cover technology, 26 culture and 25 are politically motivated. One surprising result is that personal blogs accounted for only 3 of the top 100, this is far below the popularity of personal blogs in other countries.
Technorati is currently tracking 57.4 million blogs and more than 1.5 million posts each day.
