Who Are The Guys Behind YouTube?

Less than two years ago, two young guys in their 20’s, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, set up a company in their garage called YouTube. Now, more than 100 million videos are watched on the site each day. Many of these videos are created by people themselves, others are copies of television shows and content recorded from the TV or the internet, sometimes illegally, which are widely watched.

As reported by the Financial Times today, the two partners are getting used to adulation these days. Just last month, at the media industry’s most exclusive annual gathering in Sun Valley, some of the most seasoned media executives were jostling for a chance to spend time with Mr Hurley, the 29-year-old YouTube’s CEO.

The reason for this is YouTube’s incredible online audience. One media executive said during the event that there is a mystique about YouTube and everybody wants to see the guys who may one day be billionaires.

The company revealed on Tuesday a number of advertising initiatives aimed to attract some of the billions of dollars that marketers are now shifting to online spending.

Actually I believe there were three guys who started the site, not two. Check YouTube's press page.
